Advice from a Successful Hungarian Immigrant to the U.S.

publication date: Nov 1, 2012
This is a short video that is well worth watching if you haven't already seen it on television:

"Thomas Peterffy grew up in socialist Hungary. Despite the fact that he could not speak English when he immigrated to the United States in 1956, Thomas fulfilled the American dream. With hard work and dedication, he started a business that today employs thousands of people. In the 1970s, Thomas bought a seat on the American Stock Exchange. He played a key role in developing the electronic trading of securities and is the founder of Interactive Brokers, an online discount brokerage firm with offices all over the world."

A word of warning: his last sentence/statement in this short video is a specific political call to action. You can choose to ignore and disagree with that. But, everything he states up until that point is right on the money. I discussed these very issues earlier this year in my article, "A Look Inside the European Union: What Countries Are Succeeding Economically?"

As for his political statement to vote Republican, I would find it accurate to say that Republicans are more likely to agree with the economic principles and policies that foster the kind of economic environment Peterffy endorses. However, some Democrats are economically conservative and not all Republicans encourage the right/best policies.
